    Şambali Dessert Recipe

    May 2, 202402 Mins Read

Şambali dessert is a beloved Turkish sweet, featuring a moist semolina base soaked in a fragrant syrup. Its preparation begins with mixing semolina, sugar, and milk, allowing it to rest overnight. The rested dough is then kneaded and spread onto a greased baking tray, topped with pistachios, and baked until golden. After baking, it’s cut into squares and drenched in a warm syrup made from sugar, water, and lemon juice. Finally, the dessert is left to rest, allowing the flavors to meld before serving. Here’s the recipe:

    Şambali Dessert Ingredients:

    5 cups semolina (750g)
    1.5 cups sugar
    2 cups milk (400 ml)
    1 teaspoon baking soda (10g)

    Şambali Dessert For The Syrup:

    4 cups sugar
    3 cups water (600 ml)
    Quarter lemon juice

    Şambali Dessert Instructions:

First, mix sugar into milk until dissolved. In a separate bowl, combine semolina and baking soda. Gradually pour the milk mixture into the semolina while stirring. Cover and refrigerate overnight. The next day, knead the dough, then spread it onto a greased baking tray. Top with pistachios and bake at 180°C for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the syrup by boiling sugar and water, then adding lemon juice. Once the dessert is baked, cut it into squares and pour the hot syrup over it. Let it rest for at least 4-5 hours before serving. Enjoy your Şambali dessert!
