    Şekerpare Dessert Recipe

    Ingredients for Şekerpare Dessert

    For the dough:

    250 grams of butter
    2 teacups of semolina
2 eggs (one yolk will be used for brushing)
    1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
    1.5 teacups of powdered sugar
    1 packet of vanilla
    3.5 cups of flour

    For the syrup:

    4 cups of granulated sugar
    4 cups of water
A few drops of lemon juice

    How to Make Şekerpare Dessert

For the syrup, place granulated sugar in a suitable pot. Add water and stir well.
Bring it to a boil over medium heat and let it simmer for 6-7 minutes.
Afterward, add a few drops of lemon juice and let it simmer for another 2 minutes. Then, remove it from the heat.
For the dough, mix room temperature butter, one egg (reserving the yolk for brushing), semolina, powdered sugar, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, and a portion of flour in a bowl. Begin kneading.
Continue adding flour until the dough reaches a non-sticky consistency.
To shape, take a portion of the dough, roll it between your palms, then gently press down and shape the edges into points.
Arrange the prepared şekerpare on a baking tray with space in between.
Brush the tops with the reserved egg yolk using a brush.
Before baking, use the back of a fork to create a crisscross pattern on top of each dessert.
Bake the şekerpare in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Once baked, transfer the hot şekerpare to a baking dish.
Pour the cooled syrup over the desserts. Let them rest for a few hours.
After the syrup is absorbed, garnish the şekerpare as desired before serving. Enjoy!
