Şıllık Dessert, a delightful dessert originating from Şanlıurfa region, Turkey. Learn its recipe, a blend of crepes filled with nuts & syrup.

Ingredients for Şıllık Dessert (Şanlıurfa Style):

    For the dough:

    8 tablespoons flour
    1 cup water
    A pinch of salt

    For the syrup:

    1 cup water
    1 cup sugar
    1 tablespoon butter

    For the filling:

    1 bowl of walnuts

    For the topping:

    Pistachio kernels

How to Make Şıllık Dessert (Şanlıurfa Style):

Mix flour, water, and salt in a deep bowl until smooth, resembling a slightly thick pancake batter.
Heat a little butter in a pan and start making crepes.
You will have a total of eight crepes.
Place four of them on the bottom layer and sprinkle with walnuts.
Then cover with the remaining four crepes, ensuring no gaps are left.
    The syrup should be warm.
So, you can make it after cooking the crepes.
After boiling sugar, water, and butter, let it cool for ten minutes, then pour it over the sliced dessert.
Finally, garnish with pistachio kernels before serving. Enjoy!

    Şıllık Dessert Cooking Tips:

Ensure your dough is smooth when preparing it.
You can use water instead of milk, but milk undoubtedly enhances the flavor. So, try to use milk as much as possible.
Cook your crepes over low heat, flipping them over until both sides are cooked. Be careful not to burn them.
You can use hazelnuts or pistachios in the filling instead of walnuts.
The syrup should be warm for this dessert.
Serve your dessert with clotted cream or ice cream for an extra treat.
