    Kumpir, a popular Turkish street food, offers a delightful combination of fluffy baked potatoes filled with various toppings.     Ingredients for Kumpir:

    6-8 large potatoes
    1 bowl of chopped pickles
    1 bowl of canned corn kernels
    1 bowl of pitted green and black olives
    1 bowl of tabbouleh salad (optional)
    1 bowl of shredded cheddar cheese
    1 bowl of American-style salad
    1 bowl of chopped sausage (optional)
    1 bowl of boiled peas
    Ketchup and mayonnaise
    Approximately 150 grams of butter
    Salt

    How to Make Kumpir:

    Wash and dry the potatoes, then wrap each one individually in baking paper and aluminum foil.
    Bake in a preheated oven at 220 degrees Celsius for about 1.5 hours.
    Remove from the oven, unwrap, and bake uncovered for another 30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
    Once baked, slice each potato lengthwise and fluff the insides with a fork.
    Add a teaspoon of butter to each potato and mash it into the flesh.
    Mix in shredded cheddar cheese, then add your desired toppings and finish with a dollop of ketchup and mayonnaise.
    Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Kumpir!

    Tips for Making Kumpir:

    If using large potatoes, it’s recommended to cut them in half lengthwise before baking.
    Season the potato flesh with salt while mashing for added flavor.

    Origin of Kumpir:

    The transformation of potatoes into kumpir began in Yugoslavia. In Yugoslavia, potatoes cooked in aluminum foil and filled with salad were called “krumpir.” According to legend, kumpir arrived in our country through Bulgarian immigrants. It became a brand new product filled with our country’s rich appetizers.
