Experience the refreshing taste of Cold Baklava! Layers of flaky pastry, nuts, and milk syrup make this chilled treat irresistible. Learn to make it now!

    Ingredients for Cold Baklava

1 pack of ready-made baklava dough (44 sheets from 800 gram packs)
    200 grams of butter
    1 tea glass vegetable oil
1 cup ground walnuts or pistachios

    For the syrup Cold Baklava

    2 cups sugar
    1,5 cups of water
    3,5 cups of milk
    1 packet of vanilla

    For the topping Cold Baklava

    100 grams milk chocolate
4-5 tablespoons Nesquik powder (must be sieved before sprinkling)

    For garnish

    Ground pistachios (optional)

    Instructions:

    – First prepare the syrup. In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water, then boil for about 5 minutes.

    – Switch off the heat and add milk and vanilla to the syrup, mix well and set aside to cool.

    – Melt the butter. Remove the foam that forms on the surface and add vegetable oil.
Place a baking tin on the baklava sheets and cut the sheets according to the size of the tin.

    – Lay two or three phyllo sheets on the bottom of the dish and spread with the butter-oil mixture.
Layer the remaining phyllo pastry, brushing each layer with the butter-oil mixture, and sprinkle the centre layer with ground hazelnuts or pistachios.

    – Repeat the layers with two or three phyllo sheets at a time until all the dough is used, brushing each layer with the butter-oil mixture.

    – Cut the assembled baklava into desired shapes.

    – Pour the remaining butter-oil mixture evenly over the top and bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees centigrade for about 40 minutes or until golden brown. Adjust the temperature according to the settings of your oven.

    – After baking, remove from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes.

    – Pour the cooled syrup over the hot baklava, then let it come to room temperature before transferring it to the fridge. Let it rest for about 1 hour to absorb all the syrup.

    – Using a sieve, sprinkle Nesquik powder over the top. You can also mix the cocoa powder and icing sugar.

    – Garnish with grated chocolate and chopped pistachios.

    – Refrigerate for 4-5 hours before serving.

Note: For best results, it is recommended to use baklava dough and a packet of dough is ideal for a rectangular baking dish. Make sure to allow the baklava to cool completely before sprinkling with Nesquik powder. You can also taste a small piece from the edge to check if the syrup is sufficient, as the absorption can vary depending on the brand of dough. Adjust the syrup accordingly if necessary.
