8- Place 2 sheets of phyllo dough in our greased round baking tray and pour 2 tablespoons of the oil mixture over them, spreading it evenly.
8- Apply the oil mixture in pairs until you use half of the package.
9- As you lay down two sheets of phyllo dough, also place some of the cut pieces from earlier between the layers.
10- When you reach halfway, spread the crushed walnuts evenly. Apply the oil mixture in pairs again.
11- Lastly, slice the carrots thinly and bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius until golden brown.
12- Pour the cold syrup over the hot baklava.
13- After it cools down, sprinkle ground pistachios as desired.
14- If you make it in the morning, you can serve it in the evening. You can also let it sit for a day if you prefer.

Carrot Slice Baklava: A Sweet Touch to Tradition

Coming from the rich culinary heritage of the Middle East, baklava has long been celebrated as a delectable dessert known for its layers of phyllo dough, crunchy nuts and sweet syrup. However, in the world of culinary innovation, there is always room for a delightful twist. Enter Carrot Slice Baklava, a unique interpretation that combines the beloved flavours of traditional baklava with the earthy sweetness of carrots.

At first glance, Carrot Slice Baklava may seem like an unusual design, but one bite is enough to dispel all doubts and ignite a new appreciation for this creative treat. Instead of the usual layers of phyllo pastry, this variation features thinly sliced carrot-like slices meticulously arranged to create a delicate base.

Rediscovering Baklava: The Evolution of a Classic Delight

The heart of Carrot Slice Baklava lies in its filling, a harmonious blend of chopped hazelnuts, fragrant spices and honey syrup. Generous layers of walnuts, pistachios and almonds provide a satisfying crunch, while cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg impart warm, aromatic notes that dance across the palate. The syrup, infused with orange blossom water and a hint of vanilla, bathes each slice in a luscious sweetness that perfectly balances the earthy flavours of the carrots.

What sets Carrot Slice Baklava apart is its versatility. While staying true to the essence of traditional baklava, this innovative twist offers a lighter, fresher alternative that appeals to a wide range of palates. The pistachios not only enhance the flavour profile, but also add a nutritious element, making this dessert a guilt-free indulgence suitable for any occasion.
